The worst experience I have every had at a dentist office. New staff, unprofessional and bullies. I sat 45 minutes in the waiting room past my appointment and watched the billing clerk work the gum in her open mouth. I was taken into the back room and met with Dr. Chiu. The dentist that had diagnosed that I needed a back to back filling was not there. Five days previous I received a partial cleaning and was told by another dentist that this was a simple procedure and it would easily be taken care of within an hour appointment. Dr. Chiu insisted that I needed a special test to determine whether the nerve in the tooth was still alive. She proceeded to tell me of the dangers of my filling and prepared me for a possible root canal or extraction. I was unprepared for this complete turnabout of my original diagnosis She did the test and determined the nerves were alive. She said before she worked on my tooth i needed to sign two documents. One was consent for a root canal or extraction and the other was for financial payment. I was in shock. I told her that I needed to know the cost before signing that document and that it was the insurance of my husband. This was a first in back room strong arming for money as previous times this was taken care of before a new procedure by front office billing. I insisted that I would wait for my husband to arrive as it was his insurance. I was reading the other document about the root canal when the receptionist came to the room and informed me I was to leave and that my appointment was over. I was also told that they cancelled my cleaning for the afternoon. I asked why they cancelled the cleaning and was told I was finished. I am still trying to figure out what the cleaning had to do with the filling. Dr Chiu did not return to the room and did not answer my questions about the procedure nor the cost. I was told by the receptionist that since I was hesitant about the procedure I was to leave! Wasted morning My tooth was left untreated, my cleaning cancelled. They received payment from my insurance for two dental exams? one treatment and xrays and half a cleaning. Oh yes, they also told me I was no longer welcome as a patient, it could not have been about the money because they were paid in full for questionable service, I have to think it was my hesitancy over the unprofessional way they tried to force me to sign release forms on the dentist chair for questionable treatment. Lucky escape? Beware
