I want to share my experience of dealing with Dorman Property Manager in Colorado Springs. I was a client of theirs for 5 years. Recently their behavior raised my suspicion and I conducted an investigation. What I found out is that as a property manager......this company has contracts with maintenance companies and when maintenance is performed on rentals, maintenance companies charge Dorman lower price than what Dorman charges landlords! They also provide property owners with fake receipts for maintenance work that was never performed!
Here is an example: Dorman sent me a receipt for $245 for plumbing work performed by Leo's Sewer and Drain in Colorado Springs. When I contacted Leo’s directly, and gave them my property address, they confirmed that on that date they did perform service on my rental, but it only cost $175! When I asked them why I was charged $245, they explained that as per contract with Dorman, they charge Dorman directly, and then Dorman charges property owners separately and at a higher rate!
Dorman also forbids for property owners to contact tenants directly! Well, as I found out there was a reason for that! When I finally reached out to my tenants, I learned that all of them were paying more in rent than I thought! Dorman was charging my tenants as minimum $100 more per month in rent and I was never made aware of any of it!
Alex Yoder and Todd Dorman also come across as entitled misogynistic men who gaslight their loyal customers and never take accountability for anything! They are very entitled, narcissistic and act as decision authority when in fact they are not qualified and lack experience on many subjects! They treat property owners with disrespect and they have the audacity to "advice" them on matters that are none of their business!
If you are a landlord, I advice that you cut your property manager loose and manage your rentals yourself!
If you are a former or current client of Dorman and you had a similar experience with them, please feel free to contact me directly for a possibility of a class action law suit.
