I am livid about the absolutely horrible customer service and treatment by Happy House Movers. I’ll preface by noting that I am single mother and anticipated using a moving company would make my life a whole lot easier as we transition into our new space. Instead, it made this move much more strenuous.
1) They were 20mins late with no call or update. Not the biggest issue, but just one of many compounding factors. 2) Tony communicated to me that they had plenty of moving material to cover all my belongings to ensure a safe transport and would put down runners as the carpets were just shampooed. However, I watched them slide my baby’s crib across the hardwood floor without any covering, leaving scuff marks on the side of it. And I had to ask them to wrap a fairly expensive painting that they were about to just put in the truck without any protective material on it. And to place runners on the carpets. All of this, had already been discussed with Tony and I was there paying for time on the clock to once again address it. 3) The absolute worst, is that they packed things so tightly in the living room of my new unit that I couldn’t even get through the boxes to use the kitchen. They also left mine and my babies belongings strewn on the balcony. Putting my patio furniture on top of items and damaging them. Leaving my babies lounge chair unwrapped outside and picture frames with our photos in it piled outside. I had gone to the unit with them and given them specific instructions on what to do during the unloading. Tony’s excuse was that his movers don’t speak English. But they were communicating with me just fine during the packing and moving process from my old unit. 4) In addition, I am now concerned that some of my belongings are missing. I have been unable to locate one of the shelving units that sit in my tv stand.
Happy House Movers had a complete disregard for mine and my daughter’s belongings that I’ve worked so hard for. Instead of being able to help my baby adjust to our new surroundings, I was having to try and maneuver boxes that were pilled high around to get to our kitchen in order to make her a bottle. Then move our stuff into our home at 10:30 at night from our balcony after she was down for the night. Tony, stated there was no room to put the additional items in the home and “that’s not their problem.” However, the pictures clearly show that there is just a bed frame and dresser in one of the bedrooms, similarly with the second bedroom. Once I moved the larger furniture around in the room, there was more than enough space to accommodate the items that were outside and then some. I was then told that the move was taking longer than expected and that’s why they placed my belongings where they did. Excuse me, I paid for your services and time, with tips required and included in that bill. Tips are based on customer service and satisfaction; neither of which was provided. But it’s not just about the money, it’s the principle of the matter and providing quality service. I spent the holiday weekend having to shift around all the boxes and items they packed so tightly into my living room, just to even get the unpacking process started. Valuable time that I could be spending with my child, given that I paid a good chunk of change for a moving company. I contacted Tony to express my immense frustration with this situation; the extra amount of time and effort that was now going to be required of me to fix this disaster in my home. The options he provided to rectify the situation were nowhere close to what they should be and this business quite frankly is disgraceful. He offered to give me his movers #’s so I could discuss with them directly. Who does that? This is your business and your customer should not be having to address issues with your employees. The time, effort, and emotional distress this has caused to an already stressful situation of moving is just absurd. I highly encourage you to take your business elsewhere, to a company that values their customers. Because Happy House Movers isn’t it; this experience was definitely less than a happy one.
