My baby is a 4-year-old standard poodle. She was having diarrhea since 8/31. We tried to treat her with chicken+rice, but it did not work out very well. On 9/6, we took her stool sample to Inland Animal Hospital for testing, the nurse is very kind and professional, and she was able get the result back the next day. The result came back good with no serious issue. So we scheduled an appointment with the doctor on 9/9.
Dr. Kim saw my baby, asked a few questions, the whole process told about like 3 minutes and he prescribed a 8.5lb digestive care i/d, and 5 pack of FortiFlora Pro. He charged us about $150 for the prescription (I checked the price online, they cost about $60 in total), plus he also charged us another $60 for the visit.
The prescription does work, the diarrhea issue stopped on 9/11. However, on 9/12, she had refused food, so is 9/13. Both my wife and I had work, so we plan to take her to visit the doctor again on Saturday morning. On Saturday 9/14, I woke up at 8am in the morning and found out that my baby's legs and body are stiff. I rush to the Inland Animal Hospital and was told that the doctor was not there yet. The nurse told me to go to the VCA Animal Hospitals, which I did, but it was already too late. My baby has passed away, possibly around 5am during the night.
The doctor at VCA told us that my baby might had Addison disease, which is a very rare disease that only 8.6% of standard poodle has it. It if often time treated as normal diarrhea.
I am definitely the main person to blame for the result of my baby. She is our first dog, and we never have any experience like this in the past.
Dr. Kim, on the other hand, is a professional vet, he literally took 3 minutes on the 9/9 visit, my baby's has already showed sign of depression, lethargy, diarrhea, bloody stool (sample given) on the visit, if he took the time to test her pulse, heart rate, and temperature, things will be totally different. This shows that he is a irresponsible vet, he did not take the time and effort to inspect my baby, and we have missed the best treatment time due to this.
