I'd like to start by saying I have previously booked with Karolina a year or so ago. She met us at our location, and she informed us almost right away that another family was already waiting for her (at the same location, not in the exact same spot, but we could see them from where we were standing) Our session was for 30 mins and she finished within 20 minutes maybe less. I noticed she cut it short but ignored it. We received our pictures back within a reasonable time. The positioning was a little awkward, but she's good at adjusting the lighting and making the pictures brighter. She doesn't edit any imperfections. She does offer a collection of wardrobes that you can choose from which was pretty cool and a nice incentive. I only chose a pair of pants for my youngest and the rest of us wore our own outfits. In the beginning of this year, I reached out and booked another session with her since I was familiar with her. I scheduled it for Feb. and a few days before our session my two youngest came down with the stomach flu, so we rescheduled with time. Our rescheduled appointment came close and the day before my teenager had fainted and landed right on his chin, breaking his jaw in two different places. I texted Karolina to inform her while we were in the ER. She messaged me and informed me that she understands that emergencies happen, but that if I wanted to reschedule, I would need to pay a rescheduling fee of 250.00. In addition to the 350.00 I had already paid in full for the session. I politely declined and asked to cancel and issue a refund. I was FULLY expecting to have to pay some sort of cancellation fee. Which I didn't mind paying. She responded by sending a screen shot of her cancellation policy (forewarning, this is not listed on her website, she provided it via email once payment has been paid in full.) stating that there's no refunding the retainer with last-minute cancellations, except I paid her in full, so there is no retainer to potentially get a refund or not get a refund. She refused to refund me anything. You pay to book her and pay in full a week before the appointment. I understand the reasoning behind the cancellation doesn't matter. This is her career and our conversation was cordial. But just because it's legal doesn't mean it's ethical. Would I recommend her? No, I wouldn't want anyone to lose hundreds of dollars if an emergency were to arise. Mediocre photoshopping skills are a dime a dozen.
