Hi, I was referred to Madison Avenue through the KCVA Hospital about 2 years ago. My first impression was that for a mental health clinic it was far from welcoming. In fact, it was just the opposite of what you would want when seeking help. There was no receptionist, there were no windows, there was no "life", you just walked in the outside door and through another door to find the waiting room, which was dimly lit with dark walls. About the only way this environment could be worse for mental health patients is if they added rain.
Though my overall thought of the clinic setting was negative my social worker, Marc Walker, was nice, it's just that his style ultimately just didn't work for me and I chose to stop my visits after a couple of months. It has now been over 2 years since my last visit and I still cannot get them to share a copy of my session notes. Marc himself was not helpful and attempting to contact Madison Avenue by phone just gives you options to talk to individual providers. There is no email address and no support at all. I even contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint and after numerous attempts from the BBB trying to contact them over the past 4+ weeks they still haven't replied.
In all honesty if you're seeking help for your mental health I would not recommend this place even if you were desperate and debating self harm or harming others. If you are at that point call the Mental Health Hotline or go to the ER. If you're just looking for counseling then PLEASE keep researching and move on from this place.
