We contacted Straight Arrow Roofing to replace a flat roof membrane in October 2023. Initially, we were impressed by the quick response to our request for a quote; their apparent knowledge of the subtleties of the job; and friendly, accommodating demeanor of the representative, Terry.
But once the job started, so too did the problems: the crew that arrived to do the job seemed unfamiliar with the details of the work, requiring Terry's constant attention. Once the new EPDM membrane was cut and installed on the roof, it was discovered after the crew had left for the day, that the material had a very evident flaw - a large hole through the material. In addition, we discovered shoddy and careless workmanship where joints met the house and where siding had been damaged during the installation.
The next day, we showed Terry photos taken of our concerns, along with our dissatisfaction with the defective roofing product.
After a period of time, and several phones calls later, Straight Arrow agreed to replace the faulty membrane with a new one at their cost - this was a satisfactory solution, though after seeing the shoddy workmanship of the first attempt, we were sceptical of the company's abilities to provide a satisfactory finished job.
The second installation was completed by a different crew, who managed to complete the job successfully.
Since that time, there have been issues with payment (cheque was allegedly lost in the mail, requiring cancellation and reissue); workmanship warrant was provided only after numerous phone calls, texts and emails - text and emails were generally ignored, and the phone calls were met with questionable excuses.
At this writing, 4 months have passed, and we're still waiting for the promised manufacturer's material warrant.
Needless to say, we are not impressed with the follow-up of this company, and would not recommend them for any other than the most rudimentary of jobs.
