They are a scam. They charge you the nonrefundable 150 so that when they come and over price you, if you decline, they keep your $150.
I MOVED LITERALLY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE! I could see my new 1st floor apartment building from my balcony of my old 1-bedroom apartment.
I have used movers 3x before. Same company the first two times. He charged $600. Third time he was booked so I used another company. They charged $640. Both companies moved my whole home. TUCSON MOVING SERVICES wanted $980 for 3 hrs. 2 guys. The mover claimed around $250 was fees and materials. Materials is wrapping the couch and recliner in the plastic. Fees are gas, truck use, etc. I had to do 2 hrs $690 including the $150 deposit.
1. They wanted me to Zelle $150 deposit. Zelle warns you every time not to send money to strangers. He treated me like my worry was ridiculous and tried to talk me into it. Zelle has no fees, cannot be disputed, and pays under the table in cash vs a credit card that charges fees.
2. They insisted on moving my move time earlier than scheduled at 11 am instead of 1 pm as scheduled. I wasn’t ready. I declined 3x and each time they would call back a few minutes later and insist they come early.
3. They come and rush me to sign the contract. I asked about the insuring my items option. He literally said “Yeah that’s the insurance option but we want you to sign here” pointing at the no insurance area. I wanted to read the paperwork but he said it will cut into the moving time and we need to get going sign here, pointing again. I have been up all night packing, 24 hours awake at this point so I just signed.
