Complaint Type: Medical Course of Action or Treatment
Description: The Drs at West Park Animal Hospital treated my baby, Sophie for a UTI and for months kept giving me medications to treat it with the person that answers phones there stating that UTI"s come and go and that I should just come buy more medication, which I did as I thought they were talking to Dr's for this advice. But in a follow up visit months later they, another DR there stated it was actually a Tumor, and I should have her put down. I immediately sought consultation from another local Veterinary office and saw an Oncologist who confirmed the tumor is now the size of a hotdog and invading Sophies uterus and bladder causing distress and difficult urination. That Dr prescribed pain meds and a continuation of Matacam and to continue to watch Sophie and make sure she urinates frequently. And when she can no longer urinate it is probably the time then to let her go. The Oncologist also stated to me that had West Park Animal Hospital performed the proper test at the initial visit or in the follow up treatments of meds that Sophies life more than likely could have been saved as they could have treated the Tumor in its infant stages and more than likely cured her. But now that it has grown and invaded her uterus, bladder and proximity to her kidneys there is no treatment they can do now. In addition, I have a letter from that Hospital stating the Dr will testify. After doing much research, I have learned I am not the only person, and Sophie is not the only FurBaby this location has done harm to. A simple Google search will show you many stories from other Pet Parents that have had similar and even worse horror stories from the hospital. I urge you to please do your diligence in researching this and remove any credentials you give to them as it is misleading to consumers and also gives your accreditation a bad name. There is a local community group page of Pet Parents it is on FB called "West Park Animal Hospital Malpractice".
